I “won” a new treasure from eBay – a Sherwin-Williams Home Decorator brochure from the early 60′s. What’s surprising is what hasn’t changed in the last 50 years. Some of these decorating ideas are great! And as a friend of mine pointed out, they did all the styling and staging by hand for the photos – no Photoshopping back then!

But I wanted to share one amazing aspect of this brochure: how humble the houses were! They are ranches, of course. They are adorable, colorful, and probably very suitable for the families living there.

I especially love the green house.

And this is the reason why we got vinyl siding; my husband didn’t want to be this guy:
